Head of Financial Reporting

Fergus Reinsurance Limited (Fergus Re), a Bermuda-based Class 3B Segregated Account Company licensed and regulated by the Bermuda Monetary Authority, is seeking an experienced Head of Financial Reporting to join its finance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial information, supporting statutory and regulatory reporting requirements, and strengthening the Company's financial controls, processes and reporting frameworks.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the planning and execution of the quarterly financial close and reporting process, including journal entries, reconciliations and supporting analyses.

• Prepare U.S. GAAP financial statements, Bermuda Statutory Financial Return (BSFR), Economic Balance Sheet (EBS), financial statement disclosures and other regulatory and management reporting requirements.

• Monitor new accounting pronouncements and support the interpretation and implementation of applicable accounting requirements.

• Collaborate with underwriting, operations and external service providers to ensure accurate accounting and reporting of transactions, while providing technical guidance and oversight to internal and outsourced accounting resources.

• Lead and coordinate internal and external audit requests, examinations and regulatory inquiries, and support the design, implementation and maintenance of appropriate internal controls.

• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation and finance transformation to enhance efficiency, scalability and reporting quality, and support complex strategic reinsurance transactions.

• Support Board and Audit Committee reporting through the preparation of management information, analytical reviews and commentary on financial trends, and participate in special projects and strategic initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, together with a recognized professional accounting designation such as CPA, CA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent.

• Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience within the insurance, reinsurance or financial services industry.

• Experience and proficiency in U.S. GAAP requirements and Bermuda statutory reporting and regulations is a prerequisite.

• Experience supporting external audits, regulatory examinations and internal control environments.

• Experience with Sun General Ledger is a prerequisite; experience with W-Desk and other reporting tools is advantageous.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking and communication skills, with the ability to work independently, collaborate across functions and interact effectively with senior management, auditors, regulators and external service providers. A recognized reinsurance or insurance designation (e.g., ARe, CPCU or similar) is advantageous.
