Executive Management

  • Stewart Ritchie

    Chief Executive Officer

    Mr. Ritchie is a CA and CPA and holds a BA in Accounting and Finance. He has over 20 years of experience in Bermuda's reinsurance market across both Life & Annuity and Property/Casualty companies. Mr. Ritchie spent 15 years at PwC Bermuda, rising to Director before becoming CEO of R&Q Re (Bermuda) in 2019. He joined Fortitude Re in 2022, serving as CFO and COO on their Bermuda legal entities.

  • Navin Dadlani

    Chairman of the Board & Co-Founder

    Mr. Dadlani has an MBA from Harvard Business School and has over 15 years experience in financial services with direct involvement in management and investment of emerging market debt portfolios and equity portfolios. He previously founded two hedge funds with assets in excess of $1BN.

  • Ankur Desai, CFA

    Director, Chief Financial Officer & Co-Founder

    Mr. Desai is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) with a BA in Economics from Tufts University. He worked as an Investment Banker for Robertson Stephens and Needham and Company and has nine years of experience in the Hedge Fund industry working in the Long/Short Equity arena including time spent with Rocwood Capital Management.

  • Chris Powell

    Chief Underwriting Officer

    Mr. Powell has 27 years of property and casualty insurance underwriting experience, most recently as Underwriting and Reinsurance Manager for Colonial Group. Prior to this Mr. Powell was Vice President and lead property treaty underwriter at Endurance Specialty in Zurich, Switzerland. Before moving to Zurich, he held senior global treaty underwriting roles at Bermuda-based companies: Endurance Specialty, Lehman Re and La Salle Re.

  • Julie Stanton

    Chief Compliance Officer

    Ms. Stanton is a UK qualified Solicitor at College of Law and holds a BA Honors Law Degree from the University of Durham. She also holds an Institute of Directors Certificate in Company Direction. Ms. Stanton has served as an independent non-executive director for companies in Bermuda, Cayman and BVI. Previously Ms. Stanton retired as a Partner in the Corporate Department of Cox Hallett and Wilkinson and was elected to the Executive Committee of the Institute of Directors Bermuda Branch.

  • Reiba Harper

    Chief Risk Officer

    Ms. Harper serves as Fergus Re’s Chief Risk officer and is also a U.K. qualified Barrister. Ms. Harper has previous in-house legal experience for firms in the financial services industry, having held the role of Legal Officer at General Accident Insurance Company (Jamaica) Limited and having led various contract negotiations for certain KPMG member firms. Ms. Harper also has experience in internal audit, risk management, ethics and compliance, having held a regional role of Risk Management Manager at a KPMG member firm. In Ms. Harper’s most recent experience before joining Fergus Re, she held the position of Derivatives Analyst at Charles Law, a New York based law firm. At Charles Law, she prepared trading agreements for buyside entities and provided compliance support to such clients. Ms. Harper now provides support to Fergus Re by negotiating certain contracts on the behalf of the firm and advising on risk management and compliance matters, to ensure Fergus Re’s compliance with its regulatory requirements.

  • Ash Noronha

    Head of Business Strategy

    Mr. Noronha brings twenty plus (20+) years of experience managing reinsurance placements, structures and relationships.  Mr. Noronha began his career at Willis Re, has worked with large and small reinsurance intermediaries, and was a founding member in the establishment of a private reinsurance broker, Atlantic Intermediaries. Throughout his reinsurance broker career, Mr. Noronha focused predominantly on the development, placement and management of MGA program business.

    After his sixteen (16) years as a reinsurance broker, Mr. Noronha served as Reinsurance Manager for Sompo America in the Charlotte NC main office.  While at Sompo, he was responsible for the placement of ceded reinsurance renewals along with the expansion of assumed reinsurance, MGA and fronting opportunities. After the Endurance acquisition by Sompo, Mr. Noronha moved to Clear Blue where he became part of the executive team being assigned the role of Chief Reinsurance Officer. In that role, he managed the placement of new and renewal reinsurance agreements, reinsurance broker relationships and reinsurance market security and approvals.

  • Dennis Silvia

    Underwriting & Business Development

    Over the last 33 years Mr. Silvia has been engaged in various aspects of the insurance industry. He has served as an agent, an insurance company executive and in the marketing, design and analysis of alternative risk products including large deductibles, self-insured retentions, captives, risk purchasing groups and risk retention groups. Mr. Silvia holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation from the American Institute for CPCU and the Accredited Advisor in Insurance designation from the Insurance Institute of America. He earned a Master’s Degree in Management from Regent University with an emphasis in alternative risk financing.

Board of Directors

  • Brad Adderley

    Mr. Adderley is the Bermuda Managing Partner and has overall responsibility for managing the operations of Appleby (Bermuda) Limited. He is also the Bermuda Group Head of the Corporate department and the Insurance and Reinsurance global sector leader. Brad was appointed to these positions in January 2022. Brad has been a member of the Insurance team for over 25 years.

    He has extensive experience in the insurance and reinsurance market and specialises in ILS and alternative collateralised reinsurance investment transactions. He has advised clients on a wide range of transactions including catastrophe bonds, special purpose insurers, sidecars, life insurance securitisations, and other fully collateralised structures. Brad is also a member of Appleby’s global Technology & Innovation group, providing comprehensive advice in connection with all aspects of digital asset issuances and the carrying on of digital asset business.

  • Adam Checchi

    Mr. Checchi is a Co-Founder and Director of Fergus Re. Mr. Checchi is the Managing Partner of Checchi Capital Advisers. LLC (“CCA”), a U.S. based Registered Investment Adviser with over $2.0 billion in assets under management. The firm serves as an investment adviser to certain Fergus Re separate accounts (including the Series C Separate Account).

    Before founding CCA, Mr. Checchi was an investment banker with Goldman, Sachs & Co. in Los Angeles, where he executed high yield debt financings for corporations and private equity funds. Mr. Checchi is a graduate of Harvard College. He also received an MBA from the Harvard Business School where he was recognized as a Baker Scholar.

  • Roy Fellowes

    Mr. Fellowes has over 40 years of insurance experience and has spent the last 36 years working in the Bermuda insurance market. He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and is on the board of the Association of Bermuda International Companies, (ABIC) and a member of the Bermuda Insurance Advisory Committee, (IAC).

    In 1988 Mr. Fellowes moved to Bermuda to manage a local insurance agency that included a joint venture with HSBC Insurance Brokers. The joint venture ended in 2000 and Mr. Fellowes continued as Managing Director of HSBC’s insurance operations in Bermuda until 2008 when he became CEO of HSBC Insurance Management with operations in seven insurance jurisdictions. In 2011 HSBC sold this business to Kane Group where Mr. Fellowes took the position as Global Managing Director until 2012 when he became non-executive director of Kane Holdings.

    Currently, Mr. Fellowes is a director of a number of Shell Plc companies in Bermuda. He is an independent non-executive director at Artex Risk Solutions (Bermuda) Limited, and also lvy Re Il, a side-car reinsurance entity sponsored by Global Atlantic.

  • Robert "Chip" Harris

    Mr. Harris has served and continues to serve on a number of boards of directors for US organizations such as Acacia Research Corporation, Entertainment Properties Trust, the George L. Graziadio School of Business and Management and served as a member of senior management at both publicly traded and privately held companies.

  • Claude Lefebvre

    Mr. Lefebvre is a co-founder of Helix Underwriting Partners Ltd. with over 30 years of experience in the (re)insurance industry. Previously he was co-founder and CUO Casualty & Specialty at Hamilton Re (and its predecessor company, SAC Re) where he served as CUO Casualty.

    He also worked as a broker at Guy Carpenter, initially based in Toronto with business development responsibilities and then also served as part of the executive committee in GC London where he was Managing Director, Head of Analytics for the EMEA region. He was also Head of Casualty Reinsurance at Arch Reinsurance Ltd., based in Bermuda.

    Mr. Lefebvre is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. He holds a B. Sc. in Biochemistry and a B. Sc. in Actuarial Sciences, both from Laval University in Quebec City, Canada.
